Did you know?
The LS6 PCV system pulls its vacuum from the valley cover under the intake manifold,whereas the LS1 PCV system pulls its vacuum from the valve covers. GM changed this on the LS6 in an attempt to reduce oil usage. Its effectiveness is questionable, but it does make for a cleaner engine bay without all the PCV piping.
 
LS1 Head Swap
Finally I dug in and did a headswap on an LS1. This turned out to be VERY easy, but a lot of work. I strongly recommend you have a helper during this install, and all the recommended tools listed on the page. Infopic: Valve spring swap
This photo illustrates how to change a valve spring with an LS1 head still installed on the engine. An air hose is run to the spark plug hole to keep the cylinder full of air, which in turn holds up the valves so they don't fall when you try to compress the spring. The spring shown is probably the hardest spring to change on an F-body.
